In honor of Lady Gaga’s Jo Calderone’s epic, showstopping VMA performance last night, we were planning to post our picks for the top 10 most memorable Lady Gaga performances ever. Narrowing all of Lady Gaga’s live performances down to the ten best proved quite difficult however. In fact, it was such a difficult task that we were simply unable to do it.
Instead, we decided to narrow the scope of the list to awards show performances. Even using this far narrower scope, choosing ten performances and ranking them was still tough. Our first five picks are revealed in this post, and the other five will be revealed in a second post later this week.

Greetings! Very helpful advice in this particular article!
It is the little changes that produce the largest changes. Many thanks for sharing!
I watched your Video clip, “Bloody Mary”.It was fantastic!.

[...] You’ve been waiting for it, and we’re bringing it to you very soon! We previously announced that we would reveal our picks for Gaga’s top five awards show performances some time this week. However, we have decided to flesh the article out a bit further to better highlight and analyze our top picks. This will take a few extra days, but we think you find that it was worth the wait when you see the finished article. In the meantime, you can review the first part of the countdown here. [...]
Thanks so much for the ranking. We all will disagree as with all top 10 lists. I’m just very grateful that you’re listing all these legendary performances for all of us to watch, remember, and celebrate! Bravo!
Thank you for your interest and support! Monsters really are the most wonderful fans in the world and we are so happy to be able to support Gaga and show our love for her on a daily basis. Talk about a dream job!
Part 2 of the article should be ready tomorrow or Friday!
2009 and 2011 vmas for sure are in the top 5. Gotta be.
Wham bam thank you, ma’am, my qusetions are answered!
Teeth from Good Morning America should be in the top 5.
The 2009 VMA will get the #1 spot. No doubt in my mind.
Hmm good list but some of them seem too low. guess your right it’s hard to rank them lol. I hope 2009 vmas is on there.
For the love of God, keep wriintg these articles.
The Much Music 2009 performance was a great example of early Gaga weirdness but the AMAs 2009 was one of her definitive performances in my opinion. Laurieann’s best choreography (I still think that is the dance Gaga performs best to this day) combined with Gaga’s terrific vocals and the acoustic Speechless performance (one of my top 5 Gaga songs of all time) means this should be higher up the chart in my opinion but, then again, I haven’t watched the rest of them yet ;o)
Thanks for commenting. Ranking her best award show performances was not easy at all. A lot of different factors were considered, but there was one crucial guiding principle we used to determine how to ultimately rank them. It will be explained in more detail when the top five are revealed. I absolutely loved the 2009 AMA performance as well.
Also, about Gaga’s NewNowNext performance, she wasn’t lip-syncing, but I understand what you mean. She just didn’t have a version of her song to play that didn’t include the vocals from the studio recording off the album. She didn’t try to pass the pre-recorded vocals off as being live. She tried to sing over the vocals as much as possible, but she had a lot less experience then with singing while performing choreographed danced routines.
Anyway, thanks for your input! I’m looking forward to reading more feedback about the choices, especially once the top five are revealed. Check back soon!
I searechd a bunch of sites and this was the best.
In reference to my comment above, that was in connection with Number Ten by the way ;o)
That is the only performance I have ever seen where Gaga is lipsynching! Well, sort of anyway, I’ve noticed she doesn’t do it well in her videos, probably because she always sings live. Then again, she may have had no choice with this performance, or the clout to insist on singing live. I’m biased as I don’t really like Just Dance but it was interesting to see such an early Gaga performance, I’d never seen this one before ;o)
Heckuva good job. I sure appreicate it.
